The Twin Cities Heart Foundation continues to assess the role of telemedicine, along with other remote monitoring and information systems, in the evaluation, diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of cardiovascular patients.
The Twin Cities Heart Foundation also continues to evaluate the role that telemedicine (along with other monitoring and information systems) has in allowing the elderly cardiovascular patient to adequately care for themselves outside of a nursing home.
The foundation is concentrating on finding cost effective methods that family members can use to remotely monitor individuals in their family (typically their parents or siblings) thus avoiding the need for assisted living or nursing home placement.
The Twin Cities Heart Foundation is collaborating with Dr Pedersen at the Minneapolis Heart Institute evaluating patients with valvular heart disease. This work has led to numerous national presentations and publications.
The Twin Cities Heart Foundation continues to evaluate the public heart risk and cost due to cardiac complications from medical devices and drugs.
